A single lost tooth, numerous missing teeth, or a complete dental arch can all be replaced using implants, which are a type of dental restoration. There are three components that make up an implant: the post, the abutment, and the restoration. The missing tooth’s former location in the jawbone is where the implant post is surgically inserted. This post acts as the tooth’s new roots, giving your restoration a more solid and long-lasting base. The restoration, which is often a crown, bridge, or denture, is attached to the implant once the abutment has been appropriately positioned on top of it.

Your mouth and supporting structures will be assessed by our dentists before the implant placement process to establish the ideal location and insertion angle for the implant post. Prior to your implant surgery, our dentists may advise a bone graft if your jaw bone is not strong enough to support an implant. This will fortify your jaw bone and raise the likelihood that your implant procedure will be effective.

To prepare for the implant process, our dentists will first make an incision in the gum tissue surrounding the lost tooth. The underlying bone will become visible. The jaw bone will then be prepared by drilling a hole large enough to accommodate the implant post. In order to adequately support the tooth as it is replacing the natural roots, the post is placed deeply into the bone. After the implant has been placed, you will need to wait for a healing time to allow the implant post to fuse with the jaw bone. After that, we’ll apply your restoration to wrap up your care.
